With the decree N 1692-L, dated November 3, 2022, RA Government approved the "2022-2026 Climate Change Adaptation Plan in the Water Resources Sector". It derives from the country's obligations under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, and has been developed under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment with the support of the UNDP-GCF Armenia’s National Adaptation Plan project.

The decree will direct the implementation of climate change adaptation measures in water sector. It will enable to coordinate the adaptation policy of the sector; to create necessary legal, economic, technical and institutional prerequisites aimed at contributing to the reduction and management of challenges and negative impacts of climate change in water sector, taking into account predicted risks and impacts of climate change, reducing negative socio-economic impacts, losses and damages, thus leading to the conservation and efficient management of water resources.
